On ne se lasse jamais des Ardennes françaises.
Il est bien intriguant, ce coin de France, enfoncé au sud du Namurois, dont la pointe est formée par Givet, à l’ombre d’une forteresse. Au-delà de cette frontière, ce sont encore les Ardennes, le randonneur habitué aux massifs wallons, par-delà de la Meuse, ne sera pas dépaysé.
Il pourrait même être séduit, car les pentes peuvent s’y montrer exigeantes, de celles que les montagnards apprécient. En certains points, vers Revin et le mont Malgré Tout, le marcheur avale quasiment 300 mètres de dénivelé, entre la Meuse et le sommet des crêtes.
« Entaillant le relief comme une démente, la Meuse, aidée par son affluent torrentueux la Semoy, a fait de l’Ardenne une conteuse », lit-on dans un ouvrage édité en 2006, « Les Ardennes, guide découverte » des éditions Noires Terres.
